Humor is inapplicable to this animation, so I won’t critique it.
This feels more like an OC battle than a series episode. If it actually were an OC battle, it would be rated a bit higher, as it is a solid animation. However, as a series episode, it is extremely poor.
The point of doing a series is to tell a story. You can both tell a story and have a majority of screentime be fighting. However, when there is no information whatsoever being conveyed, and all that is going on is fighting, that’s where the quality declines.
As an animation, it is fun to watch. Well made for sure, it is a solid fight. But as a series animation overall, it is very poor because it lacks anything remotely close to a storyline. Even though it can be enjoyed while acknowledging that there is no story, the purpose of a series is to tell one, and this episode’s inability to do that means it is poor as a series episode. Even in addition to that, the fight gets very confusing very quickly with how characters practically look the same from the middle point on. The camerawork makes the fight look confusing, and the pacing is all askew as well.
It’s a good animation that is entertaining to watch but a complete garbage first episode of a series. No story whatsoever. They just start fighting for no reason. Not much to say there. Visuals on the other hand are pretty decent. Their average with the appearance of a basic background and simple effects with some interesting camera work with all the angles. A big problem though is who is who? Both are green after a bit but with different names. They look almost identical to each other later in the animation. Theres also nothing interesting or unique about either of these characters. Overall it’s an average animation of an episode of a series with those flaws.
2/5
