I’ve finished watching this episode, and I have to say that I am not particularly impressed. The beginning was rather promising, but there are many various mundane errors in animation and pacing that hold down this episode.
Dynamic lighting, if done right, can completely change a scene for the better. However, it was attempted in this case and poorly executed. Making things darker does not qualify as dynamic lighting. In addition to this, the camera work is poorly done. Typically I am less of a critic on animation aspects, but for something like this, I can’t really hold back on that. The camera shakes and moves way too much, even to the point of where words in sentences are cut out. Movement itself is pretty decent, though the design choices in the noses are rather confusing, and they look really unappealing. The story has “standard SN series syndrome” and is plagued by poor pacing. A dude gets removed by a clan in a dramatic way that seems interesting, but then he is pushed off of a building and snaps his neck in a span of 2 seconds. The animation does not take enough time to set up dramatic sequences.
The animation also has SN series syndrome when it comes to emotive characters. It is the whole case of “This is very sad and deep because my family is completely dead and I’m crying about it”. It could certainly be deep if the pacing was set up better. The voice acting is pretty bad too. Putting a filter on one’s voice doesn’t immediately improve the quality. Voice acting isn’t necessary as well, focus on putting the cheese on the pizza before putting on toppings.
The characters jump all over the place and don’t have much in terms of personality. In addition to that, the text and dialogue are pretty poorly written too.
I can see where you wanted to remake this. But at the same time I see things it did incredibly well. Like the lighting was real good and deserves mad respect. The characters all seem different in there own ways but their personalities don’t really show. Use of music is there, but it has problems with how it’s layed out and how it plays out. But it’s still there. Does it have me hooked a little bit? Yep, it actually does but I was finding that hook kinda deteriorating throughout the video and there was the idea that only a few humans are left and the world is destroyed. Visually that wasn’t exactly shown. There was also scenes that felt unnecessary like the guy being evicted from the clan. I don’t see what that led to and how that contributes to the story. The story is there, but it’s all over the place and doesn’t set out anything good for the rest of the series.

Overall, not the best start to a series.
Low 2/5.
