Story and humor are inapplicable to this animation, so I won’t critique them.
Though heckray has had some great fights in the past, this, unfortunately, wasn’t one of them. Though the use of effects is admirable, this is a lot more style over substance, as there isn’t really a whole lot of fighting to this animation in general, despite the fact that it is meant to be a fight. There are some interesting dynamic angles to be sure, but the majority of it is power usage and running. Do not misunderstand, that still can be a good fight, but it really is Raymond just standing still most of the time while Lirk runs and eventually loses. The ice transition was interesting but the pacing of it was pretty badly done. This isn’t necessarily an enjoyable animation, not like the others Heckray has produced. Overall, animators have their ups and downs, and this was definitely a down for Heckray.
While the animation in this is amazing, it unfortunatly suffers from lack of an actual fight. Raymond I swear just stands there the entire time and moves a little bit for a few seconds. All of which was consistently good. But theres also a problem with the visuals. While some of the visuals are incredibly well done like the cloth and paper physics, it’s dragged down by the visual bugs that are seen through the entire animation. As it had potential, it didn’t quite get to where it should have been and appears as an average animation.
