Nii-san brings a new generation of their iconic Fairlady Z sports car that dates as far back from 1969. Introducing the brand new fairlady, the Z Proto. Most likely will be called 400Z as soon as it hits production in 2021 or 2022.

In the 28th of May of this god foresaken year, Nissan uploaded a video on their YouTube channel titled: NISSAN NEXT: From A to Z - which seems to showcase a lot of upcoming models and in it we get our first glimpse of the silhouette of the new Z. In September 1st, Nissan uploaded another video announcing that this prototype would be called as the Z Proto and there would be an upcoming unveil livestream. They continued to release a few more videos promoting the stream and then finally - In the 16th of September the unveil stream started and we finally got a reveal of what this new Z will look like and as expected, the reactions were mixed - Main complaints about the design seems to be with the grille, as it is boxy and it doesn't follow the design flow compared to the rest of the body as many thought. Some found that the choice of color they decided to use for the reveal seems too unflattering as it hides the lines of the body if directly lit.
The lead designers of this Z were Alfonso Albaisa and Hiroshi Tamura and they were on the stream mainly discussing how they came up with the design and answering some questions from Z enthusiasts. Nissan were completely rubbing it in Toyota's face when they talked about the importance of what makes a true sports car, they emphasized that the new Z will have a manual transmission (unlike the GR Supra) since it's what connects the driver to the machine or as Tamura puts it "My body, is connect to the car... my partner." (time stamp is 30:50 of the said stream). It may seem like the Z Proto was just an extreme facelift of the 370Z but upon looking at close inspection, the design seems to be a combination of all previous generations from the scooped headlight section of the 240Z to the striped horizontal tailights of the 300ZX.

Regarding mechanical specs
Nissan said it will have a twin-turbo V6 and many believed that this will be the VR30DDTT, the same engine used in the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 Red Sport models. It will have atleast 300 to 400HP so it would make sense for it to use the name "400Z". Drivetrain will obviously be rear-wheel drive and transmission is a 6-speed manual, an automatic option is said to be still on development. (atleast all of it is done in-house by Nii-san themselves unike Toyota having to seek outside help *cough* *couch* BMW *cough*).
Hopefully, their second revival plan with their NISSAN NEXT Project is enough to save Nii-san since it is reported that they are on the urge of bankruptcy in just a few years. It's funny how Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn saved Nissan back in 1999 then also becoming CEO of said saved brand in the mid-2000s only for the brand to completely cucked him over with allegations in the last 2 years. Nissan hasn't really made any good cars for a very long time since most of their new stuff is still very behind in technology. Court problems and outdated cars aside, it was still nice seeing the return of a beloved sports car that plans to compete with Toyota. We maybe finally getting a true modern Nissan.
I mean, such madlads at Nissan - The top dog Toyota didn't even think it was financially viable to make their own sport cars so they had to collaborate with ze Germans, yet here's Nii-san pouring their wallets into making this Z hoping people would buy their other models.
No one probably read these essay long descriptions, but I do enjoy writing them though lol
