Considering the templars has its roots in the knights Templar and that’s an old English crusader army that’s pretty reasonable. Anyways assassins creed is very dodgy with timelines so it’s kinda dodgy to link them. Like the new origins just doesn’t fit at all as the templars were created long after ancient Egypt. But to be honest I haven’t played the game so what do I know.
