People claim Digimon is a ripoff of Pokemon SIMPLY because of the name, but it’s not like Pokemon copyrighted “mon”, which is an abreviation for “monster”.
Personally, I prefer Digimon, but in a standpoint that doesn’t involve opinion, they’re basically equal. You see, POkemon have amazing games, but a meh anime, while Digimon has meh games and an AMAZINGLY WRITTEN anime. The only siilarities between the two franchises besides the name is the fact that there’s monsters that fight. The similarities end there.

(In reality, though, neither Pokemon OR Digimon rip each other off, although there is ONE category where I’d say Pokemon ripped Digimon off. In late 2013, Pokemon came out with “mega evolution”, a temporary transformation where a Pokemon changes form mid-battle and becomes much stronger. Many, MANY years before that, though, Diigmon had Mega-level Digivolution, which is a powerful, temporary transformation in mid-battle. Coincidence? I think not.)

YuGiOh is only similar to Digimon and Pokemon because it has monsters that fight. That’s it.
Doesnt yugioh have level up thats sort of a ripoff of pokemon evolution because when a monster levels up it changes appearance.
No, that’s only with a VERY small amount of monsters called ‘level’ monsters, and they suck anyway.

Yes and no they started out as a tamagatchi ripoff and later transformed their franchise to something more similar to pokemon. Digimon did not copy the name at all back then pokemon was called pocket monsters when it was released.

Just because you’re a Pokemon fan doesn’t mean much. I love BOTH franchises, but Digimon more, since I was exposed to it first
