A glaive of chinese origin. the spiked part jutting out the back of it's blade is called a 'blade-catcher' for locking with an opponents weapon to disarm him or to knock the weapon out of the way. Glaives were used as a combination of a sword and a spear (hence their nickname 'sword-spears), this allowed them to have the chopping power and speed of a sword while having the 'stabbyness' and range of a spear.
