Basically, some guy looked at a swept hilt, rammed it up to 1000 and ended up with this thing. the Shiavona is an Italian broadsword with a very large swept hilt, similar to that of the Basket Hilt Sword of Scotland. this unique swept hilt provides major protection and prevents slashes to the hand. the blade itself is better suited for stabs than slashes due to the bottom-heavieness of the hilt making chops way weaker, though a small price to pay for a badass looking sword.
