But after Project Shadow escapes and causes destruction in Tokyo, Sonic and his team join G.U.N. to stop him, but the organization ends up being mistaken and thinking that Sonic and his friends betrayed them and killed their commander. After a long journey for Team Sonic to stop Robotnik, Gerald Robotnick and Shadow, Sonic becomes Super Sonic and goes to Shadow to fight one last time.
But in the end, they unite and save the world from the Eclipse Cannon that ended up firing on Earth despite their efforts. But Shadow and Robotnick redeem themselves and make a sacrifice to move the Space Colony Ark away from Earth's orbit, with only Shadow surviving in the end.
