Great opportunity to teach my 11 year old about criticism towards his work and how not everyone has to like what he makes. He can make things to make him happy, sometimes he will get negative feedback, sometimes the feedback will seem rude, sometimes mean, and he shouldn’t put much thought into it because the people commenting online don’t know anything about him and who he is. He’s 11, he’s on the spectrum, he submits things he makes here to share what he thought was just fun, cool, or to be nice…but the world is filled with people who will meet him with condescending attitudes. The world will throw social ques at him that he may not get, but it’s ok, like I said, it’s a great opportunity for a mom to use these times, these comments as teaching moments. He’s a great kid and he’ll let it all roll off his back. Just know your comments are towards someone who’s young, hopeful and sweet and it’s a shame he can’t see more positive feedback.
