A shortsword of unknown origin.
It is a heavy sword that mages (yes, mages) dream of wielding, for if they are strong enough to wield such a weapon, they can cast any spell in existence (except for time magic because no OPness here.) These weapons are often sealed off in hidden rooms or are cursed due to their power.
The sword is pretty much just ceremonial to anyone who is not a mage, though.
Ralph's edit: I bought one at Walmart just the other day.

It’s cool but i have 2 problems.
1) a downwards crossguard will not save you from a downwards cut.
2) there is no pommel
Oh yeah? It still functions, look *grabs knife makes a downward strike, the end/top of the handle cuts me and it slips into the air and lands on my head* OOWWWWWWWW the handle hurts…
1) I got a bit lazy on the crossguard.
2) The design was intended to have no pommel
