Hello, today I have a pack long overdue, the Chinese Weapon Pack - Remastered. 4 years ago, I made a weapon pack, which I will link for reference, in which contained 10 unique traditional Chinese weapons. All of your iconic grandeur; the Fangtian Ji, Jian, Meteor Hammer, etc. It's not enough to say that, unfortunately, it aged AWFULLY! While dissecting the old figures, I was baffled by the simplicity of the designs, and the lack of any detail or nuance. I guess I can't be too harsh, we all start somewhere.

I took it upon myself to remaster this content, because it made me sad seeing people use them. I felt as if I could do better and was, somehow, letting those users down. Lot to go over, so I'll give a brief description of the included weapons, mostly their technical abilities, then carry onto the next part.

(Some notes: Most names are Westernized (for example, Chui) for the sake of simplicity. I couldn't put in the numbers like I usually do, so you'll have to eyeball it. It's kind of left to right, but the Changdao and Hook Sword are placed awkwardly. Fortunately, it's very obvious which one is the Hook Sword.)

GALLERY
1. Dao
The most iconic saber of China, used for centuries. Dao is a general term, one I did use for this sword, because it is simple - though I'll go over the actual meaning of the word afterwards. This model is similar to Liuyedao, which is, put simple, a leaf-head sword.
Includes a scabbard.

2. Jian
Standard double-edged sword. I always think of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" when I see it.
Includes a scabbard.

3. Yuntoudao (Formerly "Dadao")
In my last pack, I made a mistake by calling this broadsword a "Dadao" when it was not a Dadao. I call it a Yuntoudao here for simplicity, which you will find is a pattern, despite not having the cloud-shaped cleaver head, mostly because this specific model really doesn't have a lot of reference... because it's from For Honor. I do have to remain faithful to the original pack, elsewise I would've just replaced this with something like a Pudao or an ACTUAL Dadao.

4. Changdao
These are usually curved at the end, like their Miaodao cousins, but again, I got the reference for it from For Honor all those years ago. You can see these used a lot by Imperial Guards and Chinese secret police, often in media and such things. Think of the Dai Li from Avatar, and you're on the right track.
Includes a scabbard and a variant with & without the dragon on the handle.

5. Hook Sword (Fu Tao / Shuang Gou)
Make sure to use them in pairs. And do NOT have your guy hold one of these with two hands. If you do, the figure will automatically be deleted, and the app installs a virus on your device.

6. Chui
The term Chui is VERY general (a lot like Dao) so I included an extra variant made of steel in this pack, just so one gets a bigger picture. It's also a city. And a name for a big cat. And a surname...
Includes a material & design variant.

7. Meteor Hammer (Liuxing (Chui))
There are THREE variants of the Meteor Hammer in this pack, because the heads would vary greatly, and maybe I was spiteful towards how awful the original was. It was pretty much a circle with a few lines.
Includes three different variants.

8. Gun Staff (Formerly "Bo Staff")
Another mistake made in my original pack was calling the staff a Bo Staff. While not necessarily incorrect, it is the Japanese term for the weapon. The Chinese would call it Gun, or Bang, and I picked Gun Staff, because that sounds much cooler than Bang Staff.
Includes a ringed and non-ringed variant.

9. Fangtian Ji & Qinglong Ji "Huaji"
Seeing one of these may trigger Lu Bu PTSD if you've played Dynasty Warriors or Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Or if you were alive during the Three Kingdoms, and knew him personally, of course. Fangtian is two crescent blades, Qinglong is one. Both have a decorated and undecorated version, for a total of four figures.
Includes variants, as mentioned above.

10. Guandao
Last but not least, my personal favorite, the Chinese glaive. The original was so bad I did vomit. I sought to bring it justice with a remaster that took the most time and effort, because the dragon head was a great pain to make from scratch. The tassel attachment point is on the lip of the blade's spine, to pay homage to the original's little dangly tonsil.
Includes a short & long variant.

TASSELS
The tassels are very simple: they are decorative features put on the end or blade of your weapon. Most weapons in the pack feature an attachment point, where you can easily latch it on for better use, but, of course, you are free, and even encouraged, to make your own attachment points for more customization.

The original pack DID include tassels, but only on select figures, which I thought was limiting towards customization. This seeks to fix that.

1. Red: Xuanzhang, Woven
The base tassel, and most iconic one, features simple Zhongguo jie (Chinese knotting) with a silver cap & luscious (as far as you can say that) string plume that can be molded and bent.

2. Blue: Shuazi, Plume
A plume (even if it may not seem that way - it's difficult to make the plume, ok?) with a golden/bronze cap holding the string together. Able to be fluffed thanks to the connectors, which I've only recently started using. Great function!

3. Green: Haixian, Silk
Large diamond silk tab, with a small red orb at the base. Can be folded with smart-stretch, but that becomes difficult if you choose to put a symbol on it, like a dragon or a crane. On the thumbnail, there does appear to be a small golden line bisecting the shape, but I promise that is not in the actual pack, and is just an issue with Stick Nodes' export quality. It happens a lot and I only noticed it after I had downloaded the image... it's ok, I can vaguely pass it as a feature.

TERMINOLOGY
As mentioned before, the names are westernized for simplicity, and, more importantly, because I can't type the right characters in the app. It would feel redundant to have it be Chuí in the description and Chui in the app. I also can't type Mandarin characters in the app, otherwise I would, because that would be cool.

Dao is a complicated term. It really refers to any slashing weapon in China. Swords, big swords, kitchen knives, etc. Again, it's used as a weapon name here for simplicity. Jian, Chui, and Gun (Staff) also have this issue, but I'm sure there won't be any angry weapon geeks scolding me for getting it wrong, because I made many more grievous mistakes in my last pack and everyone didn't care.

Finally, this is obligatory, but do not take my knowledge as professional or expert information. Much of what I say is, as said before, simplified, and should not be seen as anything to quote as a source. In fact, here are MY sources below:

SOURCES

And then, of course, Wikipedia for basic knowledge. I know many people harp on how unreliable it is, but that's just what you were taught in high school, you don't need to carry that grudge anymore.

NOTES
This description has already gone on for way too long, so I'll try to keep the rest brief. I had a lot of fun making this; seeing my old work, feeling like I was small making figures again, and studying on some of my favorite history. And a big thank you to the total three people reading this. At most.

Also, here's a picture of the new & old figures, compared for your convenience. As always, if the embed doesn't work, full permission to point and laugh at me.

WHAT'S NEXT
Big plans for my next packs, should I find the motivation to make them: a second Chinese weapon pack, mentioned earlier in this wall of text, is imminent. I also have a few Halo (of course) & DOOM weapons on the way, namely an ODST pack and either the Heavy Cannon or Plasma Gun from 2016 & Eternal.

Further down the line, I may make helicopters, and, of course, more remastered weapon packs. The Japanese weapon pack comes to mind. I can acknowledge how popular those are, with my Japanese packs being some of my most popular work. For what reason, I could not say. Maybe anime.

Downloads aren't really that big of a concern, because for the most part, I really just care about making and releasing these, perhaps as crutches for my ego - even then, I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't frothing at the mouth trying to get features and my next big badge. I really want the purple name, because I can't stand the pink one!! Crossing my fingers that Featured lvl.4 can drown out UC Winner lvl.4

Anyways, that's really all. Thanks for reading if you did. Have a good day 🙂
