Story and humor are inapplicable to this fight, so I won’t critique them.
This fight starts off with the two characters staring at each other for a solid minute. Yea. It then devolves into a hodgepodge of a fight, proving that over-usage of effects and dynamic angles does not make a fight good. The animation quality is fairly decent but is extremely choppy, and this doesn’t help the fight in the slightest. The overall choreography of the fight itself is a complete mess. In general, this fight was a mess, and I can’t recommend viewing it when many other decent fights exist out there.
I know my criticisms can come off as harsh for the sake of professionalism, but I still must emphasize the point that you have boatloads of potential and quality here, it’s just not being implemented in a way that translates into the quality you are more than capable of producing. We all start off producing content we know we could do better on, and even through this animation I see you have the potential to make some quality animations.
My recommendation for you would be to work on angles during fights. If the scenes keep shifting every 2 seconds and the fight doesn’t have a smooth flow of events, it will turn out to be a bit of a mess. You capture a powerful sense of intensity within this fight, but it will only be a passing feeling if it isn’t defined further and made clearer through some establishing shots and more defined actions. If you can present the fight itself with more definition while still capturing this ferocity the fight displays, you will have made some fine work.
I’m looking forward to seeing your work in the future!
While I thought the designs here were kinda cool, they are rather low quality. Animation on the other hand is pretty decent but the part that destroys it is the mass amount of choppiness which makes this animation really jarring. The cinematic work at the start is kinda cool and well done but background work was rather average which ends up meaning nothing when the background dissappears completely. This has a lot to work on as an animation. Starting with framerate. Then quality of backgrounds and so on.
2/5
