Despite SAZ’s words of ‘use polyfills and outlines’, please for the love of god, do not use polyfills.
1. Create a rough outline for the hair, keep in mind you aren’t going to be adding the small strands of hair yet so keep detailing minimal, I suggest setting the segment size to 0.15 then increasing the thickness and length, this way the curvature is more accurate and manipulatable.
2. Create any moving hair, so sideburns etc, don’t over-do it though unless you plan on animating each movable hair piece in animation.
3. Detail, add hair strands etc, fill in any areas.
Other tips:
– Add some shading so maybe some beneath the hair against the head where the hairs would overhang
– Add lighting
– For any darker or lighter colours with shading and lighting, make sure to adjust the colour as well as the darkness and lightness.
– Don’t use polyfills, just shapes, ideally inverted triangles as they can branch from any thin to thicker areas.
First create the outline for the hair then fill it up with pollyfill or complete it with segments, then use the triangles to give more details
Thanks SAZ, this helps
Im glad it helped, if you have any questions feel free to ask me
