Nerdy/Detailed Explanation
The glowing purple areas on the bottom of his boots quickly compress the air under it, making an extremely smooth surface that the boots, along with the wearer, can slide on. After a while, as all things do, they will stop sliding. Due to this, the wearer must keep the boots moving in a skating-like fashion, so they move upon the air instead of compressing one spot. Due to it being…air…the wearer must be skilled in balance and reaction time, as a wrong move can easily cause the boots to lose the connection to the compressed air and the wearer will fall.
