Note : This post is about tanks, and possibly could result in 40 comments in one day, so take it with as little salt as possible.

So let’s talk about the T-90, one of russia most advance tanks in her equipment, built by same company that produce T72, T80 and so go on.
Before the Ukrainian war the west portrayed the tank as the god-changing tank that will change the war, but so was everything since its a cold war machine exaggerated by the westerns ever since 1949, after the war now I’m seeing a lot of people downplaying the Russians/Soviet tank, especially the T90, and before I like to say my own perspective, I want to note I’m not a tank experts, nor a politican, I’m just a simple lad who reads whatever he read.
Without further ado, let’s talk about T90 :

The T90 is a third generation tank, with better engines, slightly faster than T72 and slightly more expensive than T72, it’s worth reminding T62 is a first generation tank, while T72, T64 are second generation tank, you can ask for the source and I’ll link you them.
The T90 is like any tank, it had its own issues, one of these is the corruption of the Russian army at that time (which made the tank not tank part in Chechnya war, possibly because they don’t want to criticized by the west), Then as time progress , Around 9k T-90 were built, not only in Russia but in India , it had ERA, Shtora-1 , and better than whatever russia had in storage, that version was called T-90M, the export version is T-90MS, there’s a video of ukrainain shooting that tank with a Swedish AT weapon, it didn’t destroy it however, it just immobilize it, and the Russian crew themselves destroyed the tank, after that the Ukrainains reported to destroy 4, after the clip was shot, and according to Wikipedia 6 or 8 were captured while 5 or 6 were destroyed, possibly by the javelin.
And there are people who say Russian shtora-1 doesn’t work, which is hard to tell since it’s mean for possibly anything the turret faces, like TOW, rpg, etc.
Javelin is mostly top attack, but it can be used in front attack, and it IS very deadly, it can destroy any NATO tanks with ease like Russian tank.
In Syria , the turks sent Leopards 2A4 to fight bunch of extremist but they had tow and more anti tank, and the result of the AT are in chrome, just search destroyed leopard and you will see how brutally it fried.

What about the so called “cope cages”? Again I’m not a tank expert, but I think they installed it because it’s better to be safe than sorry, while it doesn’t work against javelin, it has slightly better chance of just getting immobilized, but again I don’t know.

So where am I getting to? Well the point is that The T-90M in my perspective, is a powerful tank like NATO tank, it survived a tow hit, and many rpg hits, just like abrams tanks, or Challenger 2 and so go on.

The problem is that if you don’t know how to use such weapons, you will blame the weapon instead of the lack of the skill which you should have got, even if Russians had Abrams or NATO best tanks, or Ukrainian had them, it’s not about tanks it’s about how can you use your weapons effectively.

And for the flying turret, it’s worth mentioning all Ukrainian and russian tanks are the same design, T84 is just T80 but with different optic, nothing revolutionary about it tho, and T64 is a tank from the 60s that’s constantly getting upgrade to this day, but both can be ammoracked and they can fly high too, if I’m right T64 and T80 use the same autoloader, I’ll go check after I post this and I’ll link the video in the comments.

So what do you think? Is it just over exaggerated ? Probably, I mean it’s up for you to decide this, and thank you for your time , have a good day!
