The whole film build-up in terms of the business, Monsters Inc itself, had used screams and fear as a source of power but switched it out to laughter upon realising it’s 10x more potent and the guy who ran the company, the big spider one was arrested for threatening to forcefully kidnap and use kids and extract their screams so Sullivan and Mike offer the solution of laughter and they take over the company.
I recently watched the film plus it’s a childhood classic for me, excuse the unnecessary detail, it’s probably still flawed but that’s the consensus.
