The “2 Player Games: The Challenge” app (mobile) has chess on it, and it allows you to learn the basic moves. It isn’t a tutorial, but it has a yellow highlight thing that shows where the moves go so you can memorize that, and playing against bots would get you into the basics. It’s like a modified version of chess, where it is down to its bare bones.
I know how to play chess, but I don’t know how not to lose all my pieces except for the queen and king ( why keep them when the queen is broken af and it’s all you need to win )

No really, the pawn is like Zangief, godda get in real close, but be careful or you’ll eat a fireball ( or rather, get eaten )
Towers and bishops are like Dhalsim, insane reach and damage but not completely broken, got to use them wisely or get eaten as well
The knight is like Vega, a pain in the ass to use effectively, but once you get the hang of it ( if you even do at all ), it can be a real menace to your foes
The queen is basically Akuma, very broken and can shrug off any situation however difficult, but it doesn’t spare user error, which can oftentimes be fatal
If your queen gets eaten, just give up lmao ( unless you have 200+ IQ )
I’ve always wanted to learn how to play but the second I start I just immediately pull a “maybe another day” and I still haven’t learned…
its really just learning how the pieces move
otherwise the rule is: trap your opponents king, and keep your king from being trapped
