I don’t get NFTs. They seem so stupid. It is a piece of digital art that you can easily screenshot. And while people may say that you won’t have the original code that goes with it so it isn’t worth anything, think about it for a second. Who, after screenshotting, would even want to but the original? Like sure, it’s not technically the original, but it is an exact copy, making buying the original pointless and just for bragging rights.
So for those confused. Let me elaborate my rant no one asked for
A man sees an nft worth 2 million dollars. Someone ask him if he would like to buy it.
Instead he screenshots it. The owner says “fine, but you will never own the original copy”
But, after people finding out they can screenshot it without paying they all screen shot it
The original is a pointless buy. The only thing it is good for is selling and selling will be hard because no one gives a shi-…….. darn except rich people with extra money to throw around. But, unfortunately for some reason they still sell well.

It’s like owning a deed to a house anyone can live in for free and you can’t kick them out. Why would anyone bother buying the house from you if they can live there for free without any trouble? It’s like putting a price on something that can be taken for free. Why bother buying it if it can be free, and it’s hard to sell it since well, it’s already free and up for grabs
That’s actually a very good analogy.
Nice
Yeah. It’s also like buy a star, you are buying a star, but you can’t do anything with it, and you don’t actually own the star, it’s just a thing saying you do, which isn’t worth
shi-anythingI one hundred percent agree with what this man said
Thank you for actually understanding and not just saying “it’s the same as taking a photo of the Mona Lisa” like some do. Since it’s not. You don’t one an exact replica, you own a photo. While with an nft you own an exact copy so it is the same viewing experience AND nfts most of the time don’t get big, so few would want to buy something they could screenshot.
So yeah thanks for understanding.
as far as i know you don’t actually own an nft, you own something that says you do
you’re buying a receipt
ridiculous
i too, do not understand the use of nfts
its like buying a receipt basically (is the joke of me being willow getting old yet)
hi me 👋
I hereby call dibs on willow. I shall dig them up and plant their roots in my garden and force them to make Stickfigures for me.
Same reason why I don’t get why people buy blank canvases, or hell, even a fucking ” invisible statue ” ( yes that is real, look it up )
1. Anyone can do a blank canvas
2. It is devoid of meaning
3. It’s a fucking blank canvas
The sole reason why someone should buy a blank canvas is if it’s a crucial item in an artist’s life or if it caused something important to happen
i.e ” A great and revered artist has gone completely insane and I have one of his paintings which reflects that ”
Or
” Here is the blank canvas that caused the biggest flame war on the internet ”
That is the only reason why anyone should buy a blank canvas, anything other than that and they get a prolonged vacation to the mental hospital free of charge by me
Currently
Nfts are mainly used for stupid ass shit
Nfts themselves are quite useful if actually used Right
They aren’t inherently just buying links to ugly ass art
NFTs are also called non-fungible tokens, and they are blockchain-held tokens that represent a unique asset – whether physical or digital. NFTs are secured on cryptocurrency blockchains, trading using Ethereum, Solana, Wax and other tokens.
With nfts you moreso are always buying a ticket/receipt . While that sounds dumb (and for the dumb monkey art purposes , it is dumb since you only really own the link , meaning the creators or even hackers , whatever , can legitimately “steal” the image from you , and take rights over the art)
Even in a more simple way , this could be like , a more mainstream patreon almost , you buying stuff , and getting rewards back , as the whole “ticket/receipt” concept works the same way , you’re just really buying proof you own or are owed something
Another way could be like , copyrights . If you buy like , a sort of proofing that you own/made a certain property , etc
Even the current nfts could serve more useful if it was done right instead of just selling botted monkey art . If it was just like , supporting your favorite artist by either getting “certified” commissions , or a sort of private art sale , for the sake of really just supporting them , it wouldn’t be too awful
lol, jk
Yeah I agree nfts can be useful, it’s just they aren’t used to be useful. Like buying a 20,000 dollar monkey art. One time I saw a Reddit post where someone said “stop screenshotting my nft”. It was kinda funny how it didn’t go as planned for that guy. Lol. But back onto topic. Yeah I agree NFTs themselves aren’t bad, it’s just the way they are being used are just plain ol’ stupid
theres no innovation in nfts as they stand, trying to make a use out of something useless is folly
the digital art themselves arent even an nft, you dont “own art,” you literally own a site link that god knows how insecure and worthless it is
like whats the point, just invest in bitcoin, no restaurant or store or mall is going to accept a digital recipt as payment, and the metaverse will never be as zuck imagined it because it already fucking exists
Hello
hi
My name is Victory. An animator. Nice to meet you
Yeah. I agree it is stupid since you only get a receipt instead of the art. It’s basically buy a star all over again
Basically, it’s buy a star
