Saying “It’s just music” is stupid. It isn’t their job to provide music for your projects and it isn’t your right to be able to just use it because you want to without asking first. If you asked first and they declined it’d be fine, but you had the assumption that you could just take their work without permission. You aren’t entitled to someone else’s work simply because they made it public.

Listening to something doesn’t say that you’re taking it and putting it into something, although if we want to get technical, your ears. If you were to take music and use it in something, that would be copyright infringement because youre infringing on music that has been previously copyrighted by the shareholder, which, in this case would be Scarlett. Listening to it does not infringe on copyright, because you listening to music isn’t public. Which is why, sadly for you, using other peoples music is copyright infringement which can legally get you in court if you don’t take responsibility. Let’s think about this like adults, if you were in court right now, would you take responsibility? Most likely, right? So do as such here. Take responsibility and move on, and next time, please ask permission. Case closed.

Also, infringing means breaking the terms of a law, or such, which means breaking the law of copyright. Copyright is when something has a stamp on it that says “This is mine, from (Owner)”. It basically means you can’t take it without permission, so it means breaking the terms of a written document that would be, in this case, copyright. Did you get all that?
