I just wanna say, I don’t agree at all, freedom of speech doesn’t mean a freedom from the consequences of saying whatever you like. Expecting civilness and respect when we’re talking about something concerning the rights of certain people (myself included), and expecting opinions criticising it to be held with the same respect as any other kind is silly, because it’s not an opinion at that point, it’s prejudice.
If someone says something stupid in a room full of people, I think you’re just as stupid to let it slide on the basis of it being their opinion, because they’re legitimately wrong
