My mom is considering letting me use this site again, so I may have to come clean about having been using it. I’m kinda scared. She can be really unreasonable, especially when it comes to social media and disobeying her. How can I convince her to let me stay on Sticknodes?

why in the world does your mom hate stick nodes
She hates social media. She’s convinced I’m gonna get groomed or something. (Also she hates that I used it without asking her first)
by that logic, you mom should also make sure you never leave the house, you could get hit by a car or falling anvil
she’s unreasonable, so you have to be patient and not a smartass (tough, i know), and be logical in what you say
in the end, she’s worried about your safety, your best course of action is to acknowledge her concerns and try to give her the reassurance you will be responsible, report questionable things to her, and generally be smart
srsly tho, any ideas on how I can convince her?
Maybe tell her that this website doesn’t have some sort of private chat feature like discord
I would say run the right kind of points by her.
– The site is mainly Teenagers and kids
– It has various measures and protective things in place to avoid seeing or receiving the wrong things
– Moderation team that monitor the site on a regular basis keeping it safe and well.. moderated.
– The site is mainly for posting animations and stickfigures and getting feedback on it, you can pair this with the proof of a submission page for stickfigures
– Maybe allow a compromise, let her check through some stuff and see that it’s tame, this one is a bit risky so save as a last resort.
Just do what you can to try and pretty things up, it’s not like this stuff is really incorrect anyway, it’s pretty spot-on, not perfectly but we have a pretty tame site for what it’s worth.
I secretly am on it all the time, I’m in the same boat as you with hiding it and her thinking all social media is chock-full of groomers like I’m stupid.
