The Nazi War Machine Grinds to a Halt
On May 8th, 1945, countries like Great Britain and the USA celebrated V-E Day, marking the defeat of Hitler’s armies in Europe. For Europeans, the war was ending and the future was once more looking up. Other countries, like the USSR, celebrated on the 9th, announcing the end of the war – but in the Pacific Theater, the war was still raging.
