deadass the first person who can explain to me successfully and get me to make my eyes see “white and gold” for the dress gets $10

if i tint the image red it becomes red
it shows how its actually black and blue bcuz of the light making it brighter making it seem its white and gold
the light, after being photoshoped to have the brightness boosted, makes it seem black and light blue
you’re almost right!
because that light was reflecting onto the dress, making its colours lighter.
if i take a pink lamp and place it next to a wall in a dark room where the walls are painted white, the wall closest to the light will seem pink, while the walls furthest to the light, will look white.
and also, it has already been proven to be black and blue, its just the colours are made in a certain way that when theyre exposed to light, they look that way

i understand the principle of what you’re saying
but its the same as saying this car is white, because the bright light is reflecting off of it making it white

I understand how the light reflecting off of it is making parts of it white
but it’s blue
there’s no “optical illusion” in this photo
and i say there is no illusion in the dress photo as well, it doesn’t even remotely make me think it’s white and gold
so once again, im asking for someone to help me see the optical illusion, but i am not holding my breath

i stand by my point that the dress is black & blue and it appears white & gold for others because of the light reflections from the colors of the dress.

Are you dense , yea , the blue car pic you chose won’t really be seen as anything other than a blue car ,
But that blue dress clearly has weird enough lighting , angling , and framing to the point of being able to be seen by others as gold and white
It’s a picture that isn’t showing off the dress in a commercial manner , like the car you posted
You can’t compare a professionally taken photo with good lighting and composition
To a poorly taken photo that clearly isn’t prime quality
