i wrote some lore and i think ive decided on this:
the reason why he goes from built in sweater clothing from the first suit to full on hoodies and stuff is because he was trying something new and, this version of peter didnt really like it
i like to imagine that theres an alternate universe version of this peter where he stuck with the casual stuff and went with a more stteam-lined yet casual-clothes + spider-man design
