So I recently downloaded war thunder and I’m having fun but the only thing I’m struggling with is playing as a tank. It feels like as soon as I turn a corner I’m hit once and then I blow up and I’m not getting a chance to do anything. Any help?
You wait for them to come to you, use cover as often as possible, don’t ever go over the hills.
It increases your chances of survival, being alive is top priority, rushing towards a point will only get you killed faster, be cautious, listen for engines so you’ll know where they come from.
Be fully aware of your surroundings, don’t focus on one enemy otherwise you’d get shot from another area that you weren’t aware of.

Also know your enemy and the vehicle you’re using
The sides and back are almost always more thinly-armored, but depending on your tank’s gun, sometimes you can bypass flanking as some tank guns are good enough to take out frontal armor at their BR

The sides
Also Aim at the center mass of the tank if you are for sure you can penetrate the tank, it knocks out the crew and that’s usually how you get a kill.
Don’t forget to reduce your ammo, if your ammo is at max, it increases the chances of you dying immediately, I recommend to reduce your ammo at 20 or 25, it’ll decrease your chance of dying much much less.
Also make sure you don’t drive into the open field, use the routes that provides more cover, being impatient is what usually gets people killed in this game, take your time.
Of course these tips aren’t going to make you become a professional player immediately, but its much more than being sent back to hangar within 3 minutes
keep ammo low, 20-25 rounds atleast, depending on your tank take atleast 2 rounds of he because open tops are very annoying. also a BIG tip is to go into sound settings, make sure to set My Engine Volume to low, and other engine volume to max. also hold c before rounding corners to make sure you see anything before you turn. take it from a dood at 11.3 usa

It is the Downwards D-pad, you gotta hold it down and then look around, although you’ll have to deal with the overly high sensitivity of it for some reason.
