Bad news, people. MY HIGH SCHOOL IS GETTING METAL DETECTORS, AND I HAVE MANY CONCERNS ABOUT THESE, such as

False sense of security: Metal detectors can create a misleading sense of safety, potentially reducing caution in other security areas and failing to address the underlying causes of violence.

Prison-like atmosphere: Their presence can make schools feel more like a prison, negatively impacting student well-being and fostering an environment of mistrust rather than support.
Negative perception of safety: Studies have shown that students in schools with metal detectors often feel less safe than those in schools without them.

Mental health effects: Increased security measures have been linked to increased anxiety and other psychological distress among students and staff.

Discriminatory application: There are concerns that metal detectors may be disproportionately deployed in schools with a higher population of minority students.

Any questions on this for those who had these?
