The 546 class is a cruiser derived from the Arquitens light cruiser, a modernization of the Arquitens command ship of the Imperial naval force, which in turn is an updated version of the Arquitens of the Republic. The original version (Arquitens-class light cruiser) was used in the Clone Wars, and soon continued in service with the Imperial Navy as an auxiliary to Star Destroyers and other ships.
