Vaccines don’t prevent sickness, that has never been what they do, they prepare the body for the sickness to lessen the effects of said sickness. You still get sick but your body is far more prepared to fight the disease and it goes away faster and easier.

Smallpox has been pretty much eradicated due to vaccines, and polio almost has been.
Just because your parents told you that they’re a scam doesn’t mean it’s true. It just means they’re misinformed and are privileged enough to live in a time where they don’t have to worry about dying to some horrendous contagious disease as much due to other people getting vaccinated

Chickenpox isnt nearly as big of an issue anymore due to wide spread vaccination, it used to be a much more serious problem.
