call me sensitive or whatever but people gotta quit referring to people as biological terms in casual conversations. Sayin this cuz this one art community is filled with fucking incels. “I can’t draw male/female bodies bro!” Sounds so bad. Words matter because they reveal how someone conceptualizes people. Saying women/men treats folks as social beings. Saying females/males treats them like data points or livestock unless the context actually calls for it.

Sounds derogatory in a way. Instead say “I’m struggling with feminine features” or “I’m having a hard time with masculine features” because it’s way more respectful.

Although I do use Male/Female in some contexts (usually when referring to creatures or as like a group multiple characters fit in)

I don’t know if I’m fully grasping what you’re meaning, but I feel like if people are referring to male and female bodies separately and interchangeably, it’s not so bad.
I don’t believe anyone really means it in a derogatory way, it’s more just that whether they say “ female features “ or “ female bodies “, it means similarly enough that the difference is very small. Of course there are aspects of feminine details and masculine details and an individual might have aspects of the two, but I feel like we should be able to comfortably mention ‘ female bodies ‘ and ‘ male bodies ‘ without having to feel like it’s derogatory.
If it genuinely makes you feel bad, I’m sorry, but I just think it might just be how you’re rationalising it based on your own interpretations. I could be wrong and I’m not trying to offend you, I respect your concerns and if it happens to arise in conversation, I’ll do what I can to be respectful of it.
Yeah, I get that intent isn’t usually negative. I just prefer using feminine/masculine when talking about art because it’s more precise and avoids the baggage ‘female bodies’ can carry. It’s less about offense and more about clarity.. At least for me personally.
