Try not to change the bg color to create morea “impact”. If you want more impact, just lightly shake the v cam.
Also, improve the reactions from the one being hit, in rhe middle of a spin the stick freezes, you wouldnt want that, do you?

a little shake and having the guy move a bit in mid-air after being initially kicked would be much better
but the kick itself was done well

You need a better fig honestly. Animation is neato but the fig is too boring
