I’m gonna go on a long winded rant talking about how Boruto: Naruto next generations is a weak-at-best anime when compared to Naruto part 1 and even most other modern anime.
1. Tension: Ok, when you show me your protagonist in the future as assumingly a 16yr old, It kinda kills the tension doesn’t it? I mean it was already ruined by the fact we knew the protagonist would survive until the chunin exams because of the movie, but you just had to twist the knife didn’t you?
2. Boruto: Look look look, I don’t think Boruto is brat, but I just wish someone would explain to Boruto the responsibilities of being hokage, and what struggles Naruto went through. I don’t even need him to stop hating Naruto after that I just want someone to tell him this, but no one will! Although tbh if I had a father who could create a shadow clone from countries away that could go head to head with the raikage, but couldn’t make a shadow clone that could survive without poofing at birthday party.
3. The Story: Boruto’s story feels reactive rather than proactive. No arc really feels like it fits into the other or has any further effect outside the arc.
In Naruto, every arc lead to the other. If Team 7 didn’t encounter Zabuza and Haku and survive, Kakashi wouldn’t have considered them for the chunin exams, If the chunin exams happened without Team 7 NO OTHER ARC IN PART 1 WOULD’VE HAPPENED. If the leaf destruction arc didn’t happen, then half the Sasuke retrieval team would’ve been screwed. These arcs happen because of eachother, but in Boruto, nothing seems that way.The first arc is the Sumire arc, and looking back at it now, it’s pretty freakin’ stupid. Ok, so this arc happens because one of Boruto’s classmates was actually a supermega ultimate elite weapon who was sent to destroy the leaf. Sounds cool right? WELL IT’S NOT. For one the villain is super lame, and has lamer powers (one of her powers is a freaking finger water gun lol) and to top it off, she’s beat with Talk-No-Jutsu…….. And to make it even worst! When the dimension Boruto Mitsuki and Sumire were in when she was beat is about to crumble, wanna know how they escape? Boruto punches a hole in the wall, and it creates a portal, and they all leave……..Yeah……
Next arc is the Sarada arc, which is my personal favorite, even though there is a HUGE plot hole that no one talks about.
In this arc, Sarada is super sad that her dad (Sasuke) is never around. And because Sakura is FRIKKIN’ STUPID, She uses a picture of Sasuke from the f#$king Akatsuki, along with the rest of Taka (or Hebi, I can’t remember) She sees Karin, who she shares huge resemblance to. Naruto has to go see Sasuke, and Sarada begs him to let her go with him. Obviously he lets her, and they go on an adventure. Later on they meet this kid named Shin, he has a cool design, but his power is freakin’ lame. He can control weapons.
You know who else controls weapons? Tenten. And Tenten is 100% most useless character IN THE SERIES.
They go to Shin’s main lair, and it turns out all those kid Shins are just clones of adult Shin, and adult Shin’s motive? Ugh…..
So he want’s to remake the Akatsuki because according to him, they created conflict and humanity needs conflict…
I swear to God no one in this series has a history book.
Anyway they beat Shin, it’s confirmed Sarada is Sakura’s child and Karin was either a mid-wife or Sasuke bit her* so many times (It’s a long story*) her DNA got messed up with his.
Next is the Mist arc
So Boruto takes a trip to the Village Hidden in the Mist, and these teenagers there want to make a coup de’tat, so they steal all these legendary “Swords” (I say it like that because one of the “Swords” is just a hammer and an axe) and try to take on the Mizukage and obviously fails.
Then there’s a filler arc that you have no reason to care about.
AND THEN THE CHUNIN EXAMS.
Have you noticed something? None of these arcs seem to have any connection, and seem to have little to no affect on the overall world/lore.
These would be fine if it was somekind of Anthology series, but it’s not, which makes the arcs before the chunin exams feel all the more pointless.
Speaking of the chunin exams
4. THE CHUNIN EXAMS SUCK IN BORUTO.
Kk, let’s take at look at the part 1 chunin exams.
In the first round, you were locked in a school room with an interrogation specialist, who gave you a test. The test is literally impossible without cheating or knowing the answers before hand, so the kids all cheat. There are proctors in the room to catch you cheating, and if you get caught 5 times you get eliminated. The kids all cheat in their own way, which is cool to see. After an hour, the main proctor would give them the tenth question, but: You don’t have to take the tenth question. You see, this test is team effort, if one student fails or gives up, their team leaves too. So, you could either skip the tenth question and take the exam next year, or accept the tenth question, and if you get the tenth question wrong, you automatically lose along with your team, and you can NEVER TAKE THE EXAM EVER AGAIN. But you see this is a trick question!
Because the answer to the tenth question was to take the tenth question.
Everyone who accepted the tenth question passed, and all the other 9 questions didn’t matter. Infact, Naruto didn’t answer a single question, but passed because he and his team accepted the tenth question.
In Boruto, you run through a forest fighting wooden robots that can’t do anything and then you go to this place and are given a question and you give you answer by standing on one of the 2 platforms, it’s a trick question and you have to not fall into ink…
And you know why you have to not fall into ink? Well in the proctors own words “Ninja are put into situations everyday where they have to think fast and not give up. By falling into the ink you gave up and therefore are eliminated” NOW I THINK THAT LINE OF THINKING IS THE DUMBEST THING EVER.
Not being able to react to something doesn’t mean you ‘Gave up’ it just means you weren’t fast enough but EHHHH who cares.
Round 2 in part 1 is the Forest of Death
You have to find 2 scrolls; a heaven and earth scroll. after 3 days, the doors of the main base will open, but you’ll have to get there before sunrise, and you won’t be accepted in. It was a tense game of survival, and you had to be smart as not to have your scrolls stolen.
Also don’t be stupid and try to open the scrolls, if you do you’ll be place under a genjutsu and automatically lose the round.
In Boruto you play capture the flag.
It last for an afternoon and you get three to win.
Thats it.
They don’t even do it smartly
most of the peeps they fight are such fodder.Round 3 in both series were 1 on 1 fights.
BUT THE FIGHTS IN NARUTO WAS SOO MUCH MORE ENTERTAINING.
And the fights in Boruto are lame, and most of the time have horrible animation (Just look at the fight between Sarada and random kid from the sand whom no one cares about and will never do anything. I’ll call him Kankuro)
The chunin exams in Boruto is soo fluffin’ lame man, but Boruto isn’t bad just in the face of Naruto part 1
5. MHA is a much better modern anime.
My Hero Acadmia is just soo much better than Boruto.
MHA can proactive, and reactive, and have better twists and turns. Whilst yes, most tension for the main character is gone since well, we know Midoriya will become the 1# Hero, but we still have the other characters whom we care about, and given plenty reason to like (Except Hagakure, she’s just liked because she’s ‘cute’) and worry about.
Arc actually lead into eachother, and the only problem is that the villains are getting pretty repetitive. I mean, the first encounter was the league of villains. Second was Stain, but the league of villains were still there. Third encounter was he league of villains, and fourth YOU GUESSED IT; the league of villains…
Other than that it’s just sooo much better than Boruto.
But if you like Boruto that’s ok. I don’t think Boruto is terrible, I just think it’s very mediocore compared to most other modern anime.

RALPH WHY DO YOU LET US EDIT POST I HAVE SOO MANY ERROR IN THIS
