traditionally, modding and skinning apps/games aren’t the most user-friendly experiences and usually require a little but of technical knowledge to achieve
in SN’s case it’s still pretty simple, just make a /skin/ folder and put in the files from a skin you downloaded/edited, can’t really get more simple than that lol
as for the spotlight, while you can always @ralph me and show me stuff, I usually just find them as I browse Youtube/twitter/the activity section here, etc, and “good” things that catch my eye get featured
