His name is Jay, Jay for nothing at this point
I wanted a martial arts character, but I also wanted to use a martial arts form we don’t see much in the duel community
So I went with Muay Thai
No it’s not something Japanese* (the last word should give you an idea of where it originates*)
I’ve been playing alot of KOF XIII specifically a character called Joe, who is a Muay Thai champion
He’s what get me interested in researching the style, and my main inspiration for making him
I don’t have a back story for him yet
I also want your opinion on if he should have powers or not
Should he have powers? Should he have a move exaggerated, powerful form of Muay Thai? Or should it be just straight Muay Thai?

Btw Muay Thai is an Indian fighting style originating in Thailand, and is a type of kick-boxing sport

Traditional Japanese martial arts isn’t the same as the style of Muay Thai
As you’d consider Muay Thai more of a boxing/wrestling/MMA style, than a style to be used only in self defense
I also have to say that he wasn’t supposed to be the martial artist type, he’s supposed to be a competitive sportsman, as Muay Thai is a style used in MMA type sports
He was supposed to be an amateur looking to start a career.

I want him to be a sportsman because, REALLY think about the last time you say any type of duelist in the SN community, the HD* (Hyuns Dojo*) community etc etc, and think
When was the last time you’ve seen a sportsman character? I’ll give you a second to think about that
I also want him to use Muay Thai because it’s an obscure fighting style that you’ve probably never heard of. Most duelist use generic karate styles or fictional styles. I wanted to do something almost no one in the dueling community has done.

Well I want it to be practical in some sense
Muay Thai is an effective technique that was even employed in wars way back when
Also golf clubs aren’t very unique as weapons tbh
Even in mass media Muay Thai isn’t very popular, I really only know 3 characters that use the technique, and all these characters are made by the same company
Really the golf club has become a bit like the frying Pan
Sure it was “Wacky” when the idea was first introduced, but it’s been done so many times it’s lost it’s initial charm

There’s a character from one of the new Street Fighter games (cannot remember though as it was shown to me by a friend) who uses Systema and it’s very entertaining to watch, effortlessly pushing opponents attacks out the way before pinning them and absolutely destroying them
Overall I just think this response is a bit mis/uninformed
I’m gonna focus on Alessia right now, but really a quick search of Muay Thai could’ve saved me personally a long amount of text, and you might’ve understood a bit more what I was going for
