I’d say it depends on the character. Scarf figs are bad not because of the scarf but because the scarf is usually the only defining detail. If your character lived in a cold place then sure he would wear a scarf, but that wouldn’t be the only thing on em. Same goes for a cape, you can have it as an accessory, but don’t make it the main thing. Maybe your character’s a superhero or something. Maybe he’s royalty and wears a Cape.
