Which pair of shorts are better?

The left figure has shorts that are actually shorts, but will look awkward if the part of the leg below the knee is too close to it and if the legs are too close together, the shorts can look like a skirt.

The right figure has shorts that don’t look as well as the one on the left, but it eliminates the problems the left figure has.
