That thing is doable with movieclips already. That’s what I do.
I basically have character compiled in a movieclip, I push it onto correct layer, then break apart it (turns movieclip into normal, joined nodes)
I can see the use of what you say but there could be issue of someone doing their layering wrong and for example having Stick A and B joined while stick C was between them not being part of it and idk how that would work.
