So I like listening to dramatic battle music idk why but I do and I made a comment based on the gif that was playing.

“We can’t do this,” I say my voice trembling. I wanted to break down and cry. I just wanted it to end. Haven’t we done enough? Haven’t we defeated enough of its minions? Why me? Why am I here?
Tears started streaming down my face.
I feel a hand on my shoulder. I look to my left and there she is. Her beautiful face. Her hair flying with the wind. And her look. It was so soothing. But behind that face, she was thinking the same thing.
I add “We can’t. We’ll die.”
She squeezes my hand tighter. “We can give the civilians time to say their goodbyes,” She said with such optimism. She continued, “if we do die, we do it together.”
I couldn’t help but smile. We would do everything together. When we were little we would play every day. Sometimes I would fall and cry about my scraped knee. She would always come over and be there at my side. A deep rumble canceled my thoughts. It was coming closer. Each step an earthquake. She still was looking at me as if it was the first or the last.

Another rumble from the giant machine.

“I love you,” I say. She smiles as a tear falls down her face carving a path through the dirt. She places her hand on my cheek and says “I will always love you.” we kissed.

Another step.

I look at her in the eyes “Together.” she says and she lifts our hands to eye level. “Together,” I reply.

Another step.

We run yelling at our deaths.

It comes closer.

We don’t stop.

It’s in front of us. We don’t stop

I remember our life together. The first day we met when we were just five. The first time we played. When we started dating. When we went to the movies. When we first kissed. When I proposed. And when she said yes.
She was always there for me.
I was always there for her.
Now here we are running to our deaths together.
