2020-05-31 12:35:41 UTC Tbh. The whole freaking out thing over new gen is just untrue. What makes a new gen well… New gen? Just because few people said it and others agreed people are still stuck to old habits and after 3 days or so this whole discussion will be already over :v
If new gen was made like that there would be 200 gens at this point. For new era to happen there needs to be inviduals who push out the new from the old, inspires others and creates new common viewpoint. And yes, there are few inviduals already who are going making their own paths. Heck, I even made a Discord for this kind of new gen to happen

I haven’t heard much about this ‘new gen’ stuff for the site although I assume it means the users want to start some sort of new approach to the site and make it seem more professional and with less memetic dumb posts.
No matter what gen or what change they try to bring that isn’t going to happen. The site is fine the way it is. If we all act formal for what we are saying and critiquing than the site would become very boring very quickly and probably be worse than it already is.

Nah man the currently said “new gen” is just one folk said “new gen is now” and some people nodded head because 1-2 people left and some new users went inactive after splash screen submissions.

there is no new gen, the site community stayed the same for all these years, not much changed other than the members themselves imo
i still stand with my opinion about the dumb memes being the fault of this website’s somewhat of a “decline”, im aware being professional is boring but if you wanna meme at least dont be an annoying retard or be constantly repetitive, as that gets boring waayyy quicker than being a professional-ish community
this “high-bar” thing isnt really applicable in this situation as there wasnt really a bar set in the first place.
the posts arent supposed to be top notch, a lot of people are aware of that. but that’s not the problem in this situation, the community is getting more and more stale and less fun to be in, which is why a lot of people are starting to decline in activity. posts here are literally almost the same shit over and over again i feel like im scrolling through r/dankmemes with this amount of dryness
i dare you to scroll through the site and tell me how many shitty memes you see (lulu, old memes, gey, etc.) and tell me how the posts arent just the same shit over and over again. this community relies a lot on inside jokes so when memes end up becoming repetitive it just gets boring since it’s usually one or two of the only jokes that are topical in sn.com during numerous occasions
tl;dr
no new gen, no high bar, no one expects “top notch posts”, the problem is that posts are getting repetitive, dry, and annoying with only the littlest of exceptions nowadays
