Hitfilm is really good for people new to editing as well as professionals. Hitfilm express is precisely the free version. Only drawback is you don’t get to use some add-ons which are some just fancy effects, but shouldn’t bother you.
There’s also Hitfilm Pro which I use (got it at like 20$ with lots of other stuff on Humble Bundle). Which just has all the content.
Ps. Hitfilm also has 3D compositing which is neat.

I use filmora. It’s really easy to use and is good.
