unpopular opinion: Gamera the brave was a great film. not like shusuke kaneko’s Gamera trilogy (whom i met at G-fest 25 or 26 (also, i met a lot of famous people there like captain gordon from final wars, kenpachiro satsuma who played everyone’s favorite cyborg: gigan and of course: Heisei Godzilla, matt frank, and Haruo Nakajima’s own daughter….R.I.P nakajima) which was all mythical and darker in tone, Gamera the brave had its moments like when the adult Gamera sacrificed his life to destroy the gyaos and when Toto (the new Gamera) finally achieved the ability to fly and fire plasma fireballs. but it had its dark moments like when Zedus ate the civillians on screen (the victims were off screen thank god…) and the fact that Zedus’s origins aren’t explained which gives him the whole Mystery factor. overall, Gamera the brave may not be the best but its a great gamera film and a great monster film. now we wait for the next film…eventually.
