War for the Crystal

It’s a possibility, I’m not sure yet if I want to move forward but I thought I’d show the designs at least.

These are Ophidians, a military-based species that lives for three things: war, conflict, and gold. They have such greed for gold and other luxurious metals they put gold plating on their scales, and replace whole body parts like jaws with gold.

Here are some examples of rankings in their legion I thought of, there might be more in the future but I’m not certain.

Scout
These are the most common form of Ophidian, wielding a mid-range scout rifle and like most Ophidians; a back thruster for an augmented jump. If caught in a close-combat situation, they carry a knife on their side.

Executioner
Slightly bigger, these wield a deadly hammer and a shield that resembles a spiked turtle shell. These are the front lines in any formation, as their durable shields and ability to close the distance with it make them deadly. As their name suggested, they are also the executioners when needed.

Goliath
Now in these picture, I had to zoom it out but these things are massive. At an average of 9ft, all they use is armor and a mini gun, and they devastate the field of any battle they enter. These have become a symbol of death, a point of no return in a war. The second these drop from their ships, the tide of battle is almost instantly flipped.

A common Arc attack of Max’s: Arc Bomb. He charges a ball of unstable Arc Energy, then throws it. The ball explodes on impact, hence the name Arc “Bomb”.

Arc Energy Variants

When the user passes The Test, the current of Arc Energy that is sent through them “bonds” with said user, and as a result the color and type of Arc is based on their personality. For example, Max’s Arc type is Destructive. Because of Max’s recklessness and offensive fighting style, the attacks themselves are more offensive and destructive to both the receiver of said attack and Max himself. While Max can mentally endure the pain of charging Arc for too long, it still affects him physically and can be injured from it. This doesn’t stop him from using certain, unpredictable attacks that can deal a lot of damage if used right. One of his favorite moves is charging Arc under his feet, letting it condense and turn into Unstable Arc Energy, then releasing it as he blasts into the air, like a supercharged missile.

Other types include (but aren’t limited to) Healing; a passive type that focuses on healing the user and allies, and Ranged; attacks that focus on clearing a long distance rather than close combat.

Character Idea #1

So after listening to some future bass I stumbled across an idea for a friend of Max, maybe even a rival. Originally I decided not to do this because it was so out of place but once you make a pencil as a weapon the words “weird” or “crazy” or “out-of-place” gets blurry.

Being a talented musician since childhood, this character wields his Arc Energy in the form of music. Whatever instrument he uses, the sound waves (depending on the loudness, or how well he plays it) gets transformed into a barely visible current of red Arc Energy. I toyed wish the idea of him using his crystal as the guitar pick, but I don’t know how many instruments he’ll use and well…can’t use a pick for everything.

Here’s what I came up with in Heroforge. For some reason on my tablet Heroforge has a stroke and crashes my whole tablet, but it works on my new phone so yay more thought-out designs

Am now I’m left with a choice. Keep my current submission (1st), or go with the one of the other two?

The energy has no effects, so I’m good

A Possibility of Power

Out of everything I’m thinking of, one thing remains the same in all my ideas and possibilities: Crystals. No not meth, we’ll get to that later…

These crystals are shards of a massive Supercrystal that caused the Impact, what [insert species here, possibly the Phantoms] call the event of that one “meteor” that destroyed Earth and brought extinction upon most species. The crystal’s appearance before bonding to the user is clear, and inside it’s a flowing mix of colors. This is the pure Arc Energy that resides in the crystal, untainted by the user’s desires, hopes, good and bad traits.

If and when the user is strong enough to break off the shard, the shard sends an almost lethal current of the Arc Energy through the user. The is known as “The Test”. Is the user passes The Test, the crystal and the energy they can now wield from it changes it’s color based on the user. If they don’t pass it, the energy kills the user and the shard reforms back onto the Supercrystal. Only a few trained in the ancient arts, Seers, can read the crystal’s color, which comes in so many variations of each color it’s impossible to tell without one.

Max’s crystal is hidden in the Golden Pencil, making it the only weapon that can conduct Arc Energy.

This animation included Max lifting the Dummy up, turning and slamming him into the ground but I lost my sanity when I forgot to save it and my tablet died…help me

Originally was going to call it “Neptune’s Wrath” but first, any trident that has anything to do with Neptune or Poseidon is overused and I don’t know if I want him to live on Earth or not so how would he even know who tf Neptune is
