This is Melodio Dustler and he is a Dust Buddy, something that you can have too!

I would go into all the lore surrounding the Dust Buddy species, but I’ll save the horrors for a later date. A canonically accurate Dust Buddy would have these features:

• Surnames with a Dust- prefix
• Abstract forenames like objects or concepts; orthodox names like Peter and Janice are not recommended UNLESS it can fit into an abstract and orthodox category e.g Lance
• Fur colours akin to dust, paler warm colours are advised, though monochrome, patterns following dust colour pallete, and full warm colour fur is perfectly fine
• Body sizes being small in nature, though shapes and sizes are still up to you, to an extent

Dust Buddies that do not follow these design philosophies and characteristics are considered non-canon and won’t be recognised by me as a proper character. You can still make Dust Buddies that don’t follow these guidelines, I just won’t give it my full attention or acknowledge it as more than a gag character.

The cool thing about Dust Buddies is that every one of them that follows these rules are completely canon and fit into their world. So, besides those few rules, go completely wild. And don’t limit yourself with the base, be as crazy as you want with this…as long as it follows the guideline.

I took a break from this project for a couple of days, then I came back today and did the arms. I’m attempting to do the feet right now, but it’s proving to be quite difficult

Something important inside of me has now died

Working on something I’ve neglected for far too long!

I\’ve come across a bit of a dilemma when it comes to storytelling, and it\’s something I\’ve truly realised only yesterday when I posted that YouTube video.
I\’ve got a story to tell with Mellow and Medley, and though it\’s not completed yet, I do intend on having it done somewhere. The problem lies with the fact that I have no one to tell that story to, no one to meet me once that journey is complete.
I do want this story to be out there, indeed. But for it not to be seen would make me question just what I\’ve been doing these past few months and why I even bothered.
But really, what am I to do?

Like, I still do have a lot more to do for the little guy, such as his cowboy hat a version of the detachable cape turned into a cloak covering him, and deployable roller skates, but for the most part I actually completed him

Working on an updated Melo-D design. I’ve tried… SO HARD to get this far for so damn long. You have no idea how troublesome it was trying to get past the fundamental design issues Melo-D had on the theoretical side of things, but I finally got a theme for him…
He’s now a modern cowboy of sorts, and a very tiny one at that

On March 13th of 2021, Mellow was born. Or at least, the first record of him occurred there. And here we are now almost a year later with a totally different person.

I wish I could say that without lying a little, but I do find it amusing how so much is similar and how so much else is now different. It’s almost like nothing has changed, and yet so much has changed.
We’ve all seen him grow from one thing into another, step by step getting better and better. Anyone outside of this would simply think that this jump in design was a simple glow up done by someone much more experienced. And, in a way, they’re entirely right. But they only know half the truth.
We all know how he grew, how I grew. And I think that’s what makes Mellow a bit more special than my other characters, because we’ve seen him improve so frequently and as a result some people might’ve grown a sort of emotional attachment to him in a way. If Mellow is appealing to some people, then maybe this is why.
Of course, I could easily be speaking out of my ass with this, but I think it has some merit to it.
Next month will be his anniversary. I’m not too sure if I’m gonna do anything special with him then, but it’s nice to think about at least.

I suppose I should thank you once more for coming along with me on this journey, so thank you.
