Thousands of different kinds of elementals at war sure you could go with the basic elements but where is the fun in that so thousands of elementals are here and are at war (i’ll think of a logical reason later)

Element mix
Water + wind = whirlpool (can only have this power with water)
Water + fire = obsidian (can only have this power with rock)
Water + water = water (>_>)
Water + rock = sharp rock (can turn rock into weapons without learning fire, can only use with rock)
Wind + rock = sand (can use with wind or rock as main power)
Wind + water = whirlpool (or tornado, can only use with water as main)
Wind + fire = blowtorch (have to have fire as main) (basically it just fires a long column of fire up from the ground)
