its kind of a weird mechanic
like falling off a cliff and the stand grabs the ledge
…why does that stop the user from falling, he’s just floating there
now normally, if the stand would grab say a pullup bar and do a pullup, would that lift the user? no
so why does it work the other way

we’ve seen star platinum hold up ledges and jotaro is just floating there
lets say star platinum is a short range stand meaning it only can only stay near its master and cant go further than 5 miles
therefore when starplatinum grabs a ledge jotaro just floats
….or star paltinum’s hand fades through the ledge as jotaro falls
I mean before there was a frame of someone who was holding onto a ledge with his stand,
Meaning that your stand can actually force you to hold onto something without making you float
