    • Think of them as an “auto animation”

      Say youre trying to animate a punch but you dont want to animate the guy getting punched and the guy punching at the same time. Movieclips let you make the animation of the guy getting punched beforehand and they move on their own the more you add frames.

      Let’s say the guy getting punched had a movieclip that lasts 30 frames. You have to make that movieclip beforehand. Then finally once the guy gets punched, you can play the movieclip and he’ll play his reaction as you add the frames, so you can just focus on the animation of the guy punching without making it overwhelming on you

      This could apply to anything though, a gunshot, an impact frame, a punching fx, anything. They are downloadable from the website too

        lmao well, true, but that’s one use of them, and not the intended use albeit useful

        to answer OP for the main purpose is just to be some kind of repeating animation put in a single object that handles looping itself over and over, like an aura, fire, rain, etc
