Agreed, I think Guess is the best person to take this question, but I’ll leave my input since you asked.

I’ll keep it simple. Trapezoid to attach to the foot, then another trapezoid for the upper rim. I then outlined the boots shape on the foot, then added a few segments on the bottom to really push the boot feel. After I just added detailing and shading just to make the boot look better.

Overall, Guess, Gigan, Scott, etc are all better people to ask this question to as they have a lot more experience with this subject and can explain how to make them better then I can.

    • I wasn’t asked for my input but since I was mentioned why not.

There are many different ways to make boots, but everyone has their own individual style, I can’t exactly tell you how to “make” them, you’ll just have to learn how to do it by looking up references and practicing.
I started it out tracing images of them, though it wasn’t ideal, it helped with my understanding with the shaping of a boot, you could try doing the same, but only for learning purposes of course.

Next, you could try simple segment shapes, such as the example FireDino mentioned with trapezoids and stuff. I however make the outline of the shoe first, then fill it in with all the details, but it’s better to start off simple and work your way up, like basic rounded segments for the foot and some added details, like heels.

Lastly, make sure that the boots are accurate, give them an outsole, I see many people who make a single colored shoe, and it just looks like a sock.

I don’t know if these tips will help you at all, and I want to clarify that I was only able to progress from learning over a long period of time, so best I can say is have patience and keep practicing, if you do, you’re bound to keep progressing and maybe even learn more about stickfigure-creation than just boots.
