@epitaph200 Big question.
How do the aliens in CD get to different planets?
I hope it’s not generic faster-than-light travel, cause that’s boring.
Do they use alcubierre warp drives to travel?

Also there better be a reason as to why the characters speak English if that’s gonna be the case.
Custom-Constructed languages are cool af.

Light speed travel is used for short journeys but mostly it’s portals, whether by folding space-time to create a wormhole or by using inter-dimensional drives to pass into a form of space where every metre could equate to millions of miles, however that’s only really on Verrinian Republic and Union ships, and the big ones too. There are smaller ships that have achieved it too but cannot mach the speed of the larger ones.
Alcubierre warp drives are cooler than light speed travel imo
Also yeah portals are cool too

Well I’m heavily bound to science and i also can’t use anything that’d drain the ship’s battery in a minute
I mean, with a standard alcubierre warp drive (which is theoretically possible) a minute of time to travel wouldn’t even be needed since if going even say a metre/sec it would only take about 5 minutes to get to the edge of the observable universe.
There are certain limitations though, such as possible inability to control, but I can think of some workarounds.

Going that fast would lead to going headfirst into a star.
Lightspeed on the other hand is slow enough that a path can be programmed that can avoid smashing into celestial objects and will have the warning to knock the user out of lightspeed if they come near something too big to lightspeed around like a red giant star or god forbid a black hole
Wait, how do they get to lightspeed?
Is there some sorta hacky laws-of-physics-violation stuff going on?

It’s similar to what they do in Mass Effect, bending particals around the ship to prevent it from tearing its own atoms to shreds. The actual getting to light speed bit is undecided though. There’s a reason but humans just haven’t discovered it yet but they have so we can only guess.
