I honestly feel like late January would be too much, since it’s deviating nearly a whole month from December 25th and the “Christmas” feel would likely be gone by then for majority of people.
Releasing something for Christmas when February is about to roll around would be somewhat awkward when compared to early January where you could release it somewhat near Christmas actually, have majority of participants still on break whenever it releases, and it could coincide with the new year. Of course it’s less time though it’d likely be more than a month of actual time to work on it and if animators just don’t procrastinate up until 11:59 on deadline day I’d imagine it’d be reasonable timeframe to get your entry done.
Just my personal thoughts though for the Martin Luther king jr. day collab

Early January sounds good for the thanksgiving collab (Majority of participants would return to school from winter break around that time)

It’s purpose is to recorded and used as a gif that will be posted on a stickfigure website called Sticknodes.com in a effort to garner likes and make people gently exhale through their nose more than usual
