• Keya Miller is probably one the oldest design of the heroines I’ve created, but I’ve never released her to the public. Well all that changes soon!

I’m particularly pleased with Cheryl here. I like the rendering of her sweater and her head has got to be one of the best I’ve done.

  • The worst part about having SN on amazon is that I always get the update late. Usually a day or two later.

  • Now for their fairy tales. I feel Slate\’s and Clem\’s are fairly obvious, but the others not as much, especially Tawny\’s which might be the biggest reach of all my origins so far.

Slate is obviously based on George Washington, specifically the cherry tree tale which was completely made up. As such it can be used as a origin even if George was a real person.

also writing this now I just realized that his semblance could be to coat himself in wood because people thought George Washington had wooden teeth and that would make a much better semblance and that\’s his semblance now. You don\’t know how hard I wanted his ability to be detecting truth because of the whole \”I cannot tell a lie\” thing but that\’s Robin\’s semblance in the show so no dice.

Tawny is based on Amelia Earhart. This I think is the flimsiest origin I\’ve thought of so far, as Amelia\’s life was relatively well documented, the only thing of major speculation being her death. I think her disappearance has garnered enough speculation and theorizing to become a myth of it\’s own, justifying the origin.

Clementine is based on the Lorax. Pretty clear I think. Environmentalist and orange checks out.

Kari is based off of Cold-Miser from the miser bros. This is a kind of obscure reference I admit, but I thought it was fitting. I wanted a fairytale origin for two competing brothers and this was perfect for it. And again, I think festive fairy tales are a really interesting drawing spot for inspirations.

  • Kari Frost was born in Vacuo. He was one in a pair of twins. As he trained to become a warrior he constantly felt overshadowed by his brother. Unable to match his brother’s raw strength, Kari instead focused on acrobatic agility and expert swordsmanship. He also adopted a feminine style as a way to separate himself from his hyper-masculine brother. He and his brother applied to Beacon, where they unsurprisingly fell on the same team.

Kari is eccentric. Hunting grim is an artform for him, and he takes his looks and training equally as seriously. Taunting and grandstanding against opponents in the middle of a battle is all part of his grand performance. And he uses his feminine appearance and affects to aggravate opponents in battle. Outside of combat though, he’s as quiet as a mouse. Contrasting his loud-mouthed brother.

Kari fights using a dao with a firing mechanism integrated into the hilt. His flexibility and acrobatics allows him to dodge opponents easily. Winning against stronger opponents with a death by a thousand paper-cuts fighting tactics.

His semblance is flash freeze. He can expend his aura to cause internal freezing, paralyzing the affected body part in placed for a short time.

  • Clementine Kahel was born in Mistral. Aggravated by the rampant greed, corruption, and deforestation in service of expansion. Along with the heavy presence of bandits, simply existing within such a place made her sick to her stomach. She trained under tutorage of her mother and applied to Beacon. Hoping to return to her homeland and root out the evil seeds planted within.

Clementine may appear calm and collected around her friends and allies, but deep down she is an incredibly vengeful person. She has a monochrome view of life, with few shades of grey. Any transgression against her moral system could mark someone as irredeemable in her eyes. Her anger is abundantly clear against bandits. Some say she fights using blunt weapons to stop herself from expressing said anger as lethally.

She fights using dual kali sticks. No tricks, no gadgets. She carved and decorated them herself. Her slim frame combined with her refined physique allow her to take opponents head on.

Her semblance allows her to convert her aura into photosynthetic energy that she can use to accelerate the growth of plants. She can manipulate this energy to form plants into differing forms and shapes.

  • Tawny Moon was born in Mantle. Her father dying while serving in the Atlas army, and a grim attack that led to the amputation of her left leg made her mother very protective of her. Inspired by her father she always wanted to become a protector, either by joining the Atlas military or by becoming a huntress. After years of tinkering, she invented her own personal aviation system, and managed to convince her mother to let her apply to become a huntress. Unable to bear the thought of her daughter sharing the fate of her late husband, she opted to apply Tawny to Beacon instead of the Atlas academy so she wouldn’t be swept into it’s military.

Tawny is an incredibly excitable and manic girl. Ready to go on passionate rants about her interest at moment’s notice. she treats her team as if they were her siblings.

She fights like a jet. Using her own personal flight pack to fly around the battlefield and dominate it from above. Attacking with twin turrets mounted on her back. She unfortunately hasn’t unlocked her semblance, but her pure aerial combat genius makes up for it.

  • Slate Washburn was born the heir to a shipping company in Mistral. At the age of sixteen he convinced his father to dedicate their surplus ships to rescue efforts. Their first operation resulted in the rescue of Pearl Navi from her wrecked ship. As he continued his rescue efforts, he realized his passion was in the assistance of others, and aspired to become a hunter along with his friends. Due to the faunus discrimination in Mistral that affected one of his teammates, he decided to apply to Beacon at the more progressive kingdom of Vale.

Slate carries himself with a veneer of self confidence to hide his actual lack of it. Feelings of inadequacy stemming from his privileged background leaves him with a sense of impostor syndrome. Never fully believing he’s earned his place as a leader.

Slate fights with a loose and agile style. Dodging and taunting his opponent to aggravate them, while sneaking in strikes with his hatchet. He values attrition tactics when leading his team. Distracting human opponents on the frontlines while his teammates pick them off one by one. When dealing with grim he uses scorched earth tactics, hanging back to catch stragglers.

Slate uses a hatchet passed down to him by his father. It’s a standard woodcutting hatchet with a barrel at the top that fires shotgun shells. Slate’s semblance allows him to share aura with someone via a handshake. Their maximum aura amounts combine, and if it breaks for one, it breaks for both.
